Don't waste time sifting through resources that you can't use!  Library databases will allow you to limit your search, letting you target the kinds of sources you really need and filtering out the stuff that you don't. 

Each database's limiters may look a bit different...but if you look for "advanced search" options, you'll usually see what's available.  See some examples:


In Primo, filters can be quickly found on the left side of your results screen. 

  • To apply a filter, check the box to the left of the one(s) you need, and then click the green Apply button.  Successfully applied filters will be listed as Active Filters toward the top left of your results screen.
  • To exclude a resource type, you can select the "exclude" icon to the right of it. Successfully excluded filters will also be listed as Active Filters toward the top left of your results screen.
  • To make filters persist throughout your search session, click "Remember all filters" near your Active Filters list.
