A good way to locate case study articles is to do a keyword search using the library website:
Library Everything Search (when prompted enter your student credentials)
Enter the following into the search box: (case study OR case studies) AND metaphor
- Now use the filters on the left side. See this link to view: Peer-Reviewed Journals, Articles, and Subjects. Want to learn more? See: how to use filters to limit search results.
Another search example: "Gareth Morgan" AND metaphor*
More Search Tips: Organization, Metaphors, Case Studies
To find articles that talk about metaphors in organization theory, go to the Library Search
1. Search: "organization* theory" AND metaphor* in the "Everything" tab of the Primo search box.
2. Click search, and use the menu to the left of your search results to limit using Subject filter, see this view of search results. And since the filters change with initial selection, here is another view selecting more filters: https://www.screencast.com/t/gk8Oo6SZm
More search options:
Morgan AND metaphor AND business AND case stud* (limited to Subject filters)
Metaphors AND organizations AND function* AND case study (limited to Peer review; Subject filters, saved and then added more Subject filters)
Metaphors AND "organization* theory" AND function* AND case study (limited to Subject filter)
"organization* theory" AND case study (limited using Subject filters and then reapplying more Subject filters)
TIP: can try Subject filters again as they change with the initial selection!
- If you locate one helpful resource, it can lead to others, see: How can one good source lead me to other good sources?
- See this link showing where in selecting one of the articles from the search results, can find related or similar results.
- And from the PQ article you can launch a new search using indexing terms, see:
List of Morgan's 8 metaphors of organizations: machine, organism, brain, culture, political system, psychic prison, flux and transformation, and instrument of domination
Examples:
Search: brain metaphor AND management AND organization
Search: "organization as machine"
- Note: suggest using the Subject filter for limiting results on each of the suggested search options listed above. Select Studies for case studies and then review Subject filter again to see if case study or case studies are listed!
Here are options for filtering/limiting search results:
- What limiting or filtering options do library databases offer?
- Can I explore books or articles by subject?
Here are more narrow search options:
- Search: "psychic prison" business "case study" Morgan
- Search: "Organization as Machine" case study
- Search: "Organization as Instrument of Domination" case study
Suggestion: Try doing a Google Scholar search
TIP: Make sure you link the Google Scholar results to APUS Library, follow this link to learn how to do this!
