Our library's Credo Reference collection is a perfect place to find dictionaries.  Find Credo linked on the library's Articles & Databases page.

If you need a general English-language dictionary (perfect for finding a basic definition for a common word or term):

1.  On the Credo homepage, look in the blue Subjects box.  Click General Reference.

2.  On the results page, click Dictionaries.  You will see a list of options to choose from.

3.  Click a dictionary to search within it for the terms you need to define.

If you want a subject dictionary (one that defines specialized terms used by professionals in particular field), choose the field you need from the Subjects box to browse available subject dictionaries.

You can also find dictionaries in the Books & eBooks Catalog.  Search for keywords like these depending upon what kind of dictionary you need:

  • business dictionaries
  • health dictionaries
  • biographical dictionaries
