The Library Chatbot is a rule-based, decision-tree-style answer-finding tool that works inside our LibAnswers FAQ knowledge base.
It is designed to help you discover concise answers to common questions about library research, writing/citing and course materials. It's connected to our live chat service, but only appears when the AMU/APU librarians are offline in chat (typically between 10 PM and 10 AM Eastern time US).
What it can do:
Based on the input that you give it, it will look inside our LibAnswers knowledge base for existing FAQs that may be helpful.
If it does not find a good match for your input, it can help you submit a ticket to the librarians for personalized, in-depth assistance. The librarians will follow up with you as soon as they're back online!
What it cannot do:
The Library Chatbot is not generative AI, and it can't search outside of our FAQ knowledge base (apus.libanswers.com).
It cannot return articles or other sources on your research topics. (For sources, try searching the Everything search box on the library homepage!)
If you need more help than our FAQs provide, please reach out to the AMU/APU librarians!
We're friendly, 100% human - and we're available 365 days per year.
