A trade journal is a periodical that targets a specific industry or trade group. A trade journal contains industry-specific advertising and, often, will include industry-specific job postings. Trade journals will typically include news or special feature articles that focus on topics of interest to the readers in a given industry.
NOTE: Some trade journals may be presented in the style of a scientific or scholarly journal with the intent of marketing a product or service under the guise of a being "peer-reviewed" resource.
Trade journals are also called trade magazines or trade rags. The publication of trade journals is referred to as the trade press.
